The Atlanta Braves use some Tyler Flowers power, Andrew Heaney deals for the Angels, and more in today’s Relief Roundup!

At Call to the Pen, we want to ensure every MLB team is getting coverage, and that you’re well-informed as the reader! As part of that, we will be including a daily piece into our collection each morning with all of the night’s scores at every level of the majors and minors, along with a bit of history/birthdays at the very end.

Without further adieu, let’s begin!

MLB Scores

Atlanta Braves 6, Chicago Cubs 5 in Chicago – The Braves scored in the first inning and put up a 3-spot in the 5th inning to win a makeup game from a game that was “frozen” out on Jackie Robinson Day earlier this season.

Tampa Bay Rays 2, Kansas City Royals 1 in Kansas City – The Rays scored in the first and added the winning run in the sixth inning in a tight ballgame. Whit Merrifield homered for the Royals’ only run on the day.

Detroit Tigers 6, Cleveland Indians 3 in Detroit – The Indians scored in the top of the first inning, but the Tigers were in control for basically the rest of the game on Monday.

Oakland Athletics 6, Boston Red Sox 5 in Boston – The Athletics and Red Sox played a see-saw battle on Monday that the A’s were able to pull out after a rough weekend. Rick Porcello was dealt his first loss of the season.

Seattle Mariners 1, Minnesota Twins 0 in Minnesota – Wade LeBlanc and Jake Odorizzi both pitch tremendous ballgames, turning things over to the bullpen. An error on a sacrifice bunt in the 8th inning gives the Mariners the only run of the game.

Milwaukee Brewers 7, Arizona Diamondbacks 2 in Arizona – A competitive game until the 7th inning when the Brewers broke open a 2-2 tie, the Brewers scored 5 runs over the final 3 innings to put the game out of reach.

Los Angeles Angels 2, Houston Astros 1 in Los Angeles – A battle between two of the best teams in the American League went down the way it really should as the Angels eeked out a win over the Astros in a well-pitched game.

Colorado Rockies 6, San Diego Padres 4 in San Diego – The Rockies pile on 5 runs in the 5th and 6th inning to defeat the Padres, hitting 3 home runs in the process.

San Francisco Giants 10, Cincinnati Reds 7 in San Francisco – The Giants beat up on the Reds early and hold on for the win as the Reds make a strong comeback in the 9th inning, but could not quite climb all the way back.

Standouts

Tyler Flowers had a perfect day at the plate for the Atlanta Braves on Monday against the Cubs. Flowers went 2-2 with a pair of runs scored and 2 RBI with a home run and also walked 3 times on the day.

In a marquee matchup against the Astros, Angels starter Andrew Heaney became the star, throwing 8 innings, allowing one run on 4 hits and a walk, striking out 10 Houston hitters, helping the Angels pull out the narrow win.
