Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon’s has a unique remedy to mend his injured finger. If you think you’ve heard it all, wait until you hear his suggestion.

Baseball is known for its quirkiness, bizarre superstitions, and unique rituals. With a marathon 162 game schedule, MLB players are also going to encounter injuries along the way, some routine, others not so much. Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon can’t quite shake his finger injury, so he’ll do anything, I mean ANYTHING to get back on the mound.

On Sunday, Jameson Taillon revealed to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review just how far he would go to return to the bump after suffering a laceration on his throwing hand.

"“The most common one I’ve gotten is to pee on my hands. I said if it helps, I’ll put a sign-up sheet and everyone can come and pee. I don’t care. I just want it to go away.”"

He then went to Twitter and had a bit of fun with this whole thing, knowing that his quote had already blown up on the Internet.

Maybe if this remedy doesn’t work, he’ll embrace his inner Patches Ohoulihan, kicking things up a notch.

“Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it’s sterile and I like the taste.”

Naturally, social media took notice and had a field day at the expense of Jameson Taillon, with these zingers.

No, not at all… Maybe Windex is a better “solution?”

Amy makes a valid point about whose urine you should use when practicing this ritual.

Jameson Taillon is a gem, and this quote here proves that he indeed gets it.

Baseball and urine have a bit of history, believe it or not. Jorge Posada hit barehanded during his playing days and swore that urinating on them helped in preventing blisters and keeping his skin from drying up. Hopefully, none of you have ever shaken Jorge Posada’s hand; if so, you need to make a trip to the Doctor’s office immediately.

Former All-Star Moises Alou embraced the same practice as Jorge Posada during his playing days. Now, Jameson Taillon is bringing urine back. Them other boys don’t know how to act.

All joking aside, this whole exchange is terrific, and Jameson Taillon’s humor and willingness to roll with all of this undoubtedly explains why the Pittsburgh Pirates are doing so well this season. They are playing for the love of the game, and urine — a winning combination.
