New York Yankees series of unfortunate events forces team to sleep at airport

A series of unfortunate events forces the New York Yankees to sleep at an airport, much like a minor league team.

The New York Yankees week has been one of chaos after their brief two-game series against the Washington Nationals was delayed and washed out due to weather (surprise, surprise). Making matters worse, the Yankees were then stranded at Dulles International Airport in the Nation’s capital after mechanical issues grounded their route of departure.

It doesn’t end there, where there was no room at the Inn to lay down their sweet heads. Like a traveling high school team or lower level minor league team, the Yankees were forced to sleep at the airport on Wednesday night.

No, seriously. The freaking New York Yankees slept at an airport like an everyday commuter.

Maybe they were filming the sequel for Sleepless in Seattle? That’s the only viable explanation.

Maybe if George Constanza were still in charge of flight arrangements, they would have at least at the Ramada.

Is the fictional Rachel Phelps of the Cleveland Indians in the epic classic Major League trying to ambush the team from within? Oh wait, that’s Derek Jeter with the Miami Marlins.

I’m convinced the Boston Red Sox or even the entire American League are pulling off an inside job here, in their attempts in cooling off the scorching hot New York Yankees. Nothing else is slowing them down right now, and all is fair in love and war and baseball, right?

Jonathon Howard provides the most logical reasoning for the Yankees crashing at Dulles like it was a highschool lockin.

Maybe Brian Cashman and the powers to be within the Yankees organization were being wise and saving every possible penny in their efforts to pursue the likes of Manny Machado and Bryce Harper in the 2019 offseason.

Nevertheless, a team with the history and prestige of the New York Yankees should never have to stay in an airport — especially during the middle of the season. Maybe they need to hire the help of Jerry Seinfeld in what it means to make and hold a reservation.
