Yadier Molina may return to the St. Louis Cardinals lineup very soon, with the team needing a bit of a lift after an injury-plagued start to the 2018 campaign.
The St. Louis Cardinals looked flat in their uninspired 5-1 loss at home to the lowly Kansas City Royals Tuesday night. Maybe they were riding the high from a record-setting performance by Miles Mikolas prior, then crashing down to earth once the rush wore off?
Or, maybe injuries have taken it’s tole and are finally catching up with the Birds on the Bat. On two occasions last night, Francisco Pena struck out swinging leading to strike-em out, throw-em out double-plays — reminding Redbird nation of how dearly they miss Yadier Molina.
Yadier Molina is one tough dude, so you know if he’s missing considerable time due to injury then it’s severe. However, St. Louis Cardinals rumors stirred greatly when Yadier Molina was spotted during pre-game activities, giving fans a glimmer of hope.
Does this mean that the fearsome catcher is eyeing a rehab stint, then a return to the St. Louis Cardinals in the near future? It appears that way!
According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Yadier Molina is slowly working is way back into the swing of things — with the St. Louis Cardinals being cautious and rightfully so.
The fact that Yadier Molina is even walking or able to move an inch is a testament to his toughness, after taking a Jordan Hicks (fouled off) 100 MPH pitch to the groin. But, would you expect anything less from the toughest player in all of MLB?
Isn’t it crazy that the very ball, (not Yadi’s, the baseball) sold on eBay for a substantial amount of money? What a crazy world we live in, huh?
It was only two weeks ago that this unfortunate fluke of an injury happened. Initially, Yadier Molina expected to miss 4-6 weeks, but knowing him, he’ll be back in the St. Louis Cardinals lineup sooner than later.
