Toronto Blue Jays bullpen offering far more than relief pitching
The Toronto Blue Jays bullpen is branching out, looking to provide far more than relief innings for their fans.
Ever wonder what baseball players overhear at the ballpark? While their focus is on the game at hand, there have to be times when they cannot help but overhear the random conversations taking place. That was the case on Friday, as Toronto Blue Jays reliever John Axford pointed out on his Twitter account.
Unfortunately, the action off the field turned out to be more engrossing that what was taking place on the field, at least in the fifth inning. At that point, Axford and the rest of the Blue Jays bullpen noticed a couple getting into an argument, and presumably ended their relationship. Well, Axford and the bullpen have an offer for that couple, if they are looking to repair the rift in their relationship.

According to a very quick search on Google, couples therapy in the Toronto area costs between $75 and $150 per hour. The Blue Jays bullpen offer of listening to their grievances, and to give their advice to the couple, is quite generous. And, if the relationship counseling does not work, at least they can go their seperate ways and enjoy the game in their own ways.
If the Blue Jays bullpen is going to offer such services, Axford may be the perfect reliever to do so. He has interests that extend far beyond baseball, gaining national attention for his predictions for the 2014 Academy Awards, as he was correct with all 18 categories he predicted. If nothing else, he could certainly give movie recommendations for the pair to watch as they get over their relationship woes.
This also shows how much the players notice during the game. There is only so much attention that can be sent towards the field while sitting around and waiting for your turn to come in and pitch. Those conversations, antics, and other assorted moments in the stands may have some unexpected spectators.

Hopefully, that couple will take John Axford and the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen on their offer. If it works, this is just another service the bullpen can provide.
