The Houston Astros may be the most complete team in all of MLB. But, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox may have something to say on the matter as well, in our latest MLB power rankings.

At the beginning of the season, MLB Power Rankings mean next to nothing, with the standings shifting more than an ocean tide. A prime example is the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have embraced their inner Tom Petty in free falling from their perch as the best National League team.

In fact, the Diamondbacks are no longer the king of the castle in the NL West, with the Colorado Rockies catching fire of late. The Los Angeles Dodgers have righted the ship and are back in the thick of things also — where they were left for dead.

The NL East boasts as the most complete division in all of MLB, with the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, and surging Washington Nationals all within one game of one another. Don’t sleep on the New York Mets, either.

The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers keep on rolling, while the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates shifted towards the wrong direction. Will the return of Alex Reyes, Yadier Molina, and the rest of their injured squad be enough?

Meanwhile, the American League boasts the two best records in all of baseball, with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. However, the AL is more than just a two-trick pony, with the Houston Astros and the rest of the AL West proving they can hang with the elite.

Are the Houston Astros even the most complete team in all of MLB?

Before we jump into our MLB Power Rankings, let’s take a look at the current standings, which have shaken up since the last time we met.

MLB Power Rankings: MLB Standings and Statistics

MLB records often are deceiving, with other numbers such as runs scored, runs scored against, wins against playoff teams, and run differential being more telling factors of how true a team’s talents indeed is. MLB Power Rankings: 30-21

Ranging from numbers 30-24, it’s the poorest of the poor within our MLB Power Rankings. However, once we arrive closer to the top 20, there is much balance within the league that we have not seen in years.

It’s not until the top 5 of our MLB Power Rankings that a Mount Rushmore of esteemed teams emerge, rising above the rest. Look for these teams to become sellers before the 2018 MLB trade deadline:

Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Texas Rangers. Everybody else is in contention and will likely look to add to their rosters, to take that next step of reaching their MLB postseason goals.

The Texas Rangers had high hopes of snagging one of the AL wild card slots, but teams within their own division have emerged; the Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners.

. . . Baltimore Orioles . 30. team. 11

. . Chicago White Sox. 29. team. 128.

. Kansas City Royals . 28. team. 7. .

Miami Marlins. 27. team. 82. . .

Los Angeles Dodgers. 18. team. 71. . .

. . Tampa Bay Rays. 17. team. 21.

. . . New York Mets. 16. team. 3

The New York Mets may work their way back into the top 15 eventually, but with the stout NL East, the road there will be a tough one. The Mets aren’t the only team heading in the wrong direction, with our next four squads hitting a bit of a rough patch.

MLB Power Rankings: 16-1

Teams in the midst of the freefall are the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburg Pirates, and St. Louis Cardinals. It’s evident that the Pirates were a bit of fools gold, but expect the Cardinals and Diamondbacks to work their way back into not only wild card contention, but compete within their own division.

135. . . . Houston Astros. 1. team

We have the answer to our question. The Houston Astros reign supreme in our MLB rankings as the most-complete MLB team. The top three teams( New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Houston Astros) rank the same, as a 1A, 1B, and 1C, but if we had to choose; the Houston Astros are the cream of the crop, just barely.

Plus, Houston fans could use some little good news and pick me up after their beloved Houston Rockets suffered tough loss at the hands of the New York Yankees of the NBA world — the Golden State Warriors.

How about you? Do you have the Houston Astros at the top of your MLB rankings? Sound off in the comments below and on our social media pages.
