The Baltimore Orioles going forward

Right now, the Baltimore Orioles have a .286 winning percentage with their 20-50 record. Obviously, that is not great. But how would that play out over a full season?

Assuming that nothing changes, and the winning percentage remains the same, the Orioles are on pace to win 46.3 games over the course of the 162 game schedule. Obviously, that number will fluctuate throughout the season, as the Orioles either go on a run of relative success, or if they get battered over the course of the week.

This pace also assumes that everything, including the roster, remains static. However, that will not be the case. While it is possible that Machado remains so that the Orioles can make a qualifying offer, their other impending free agents are likely to get moved. For as bad as the Orioles have been, they may only get worse.

And yet, how bad can they really be? With players like Adam Jones and Zach Britton, they may, with a bit of luck, find their way to 50 wins. Yet, those players could be out the door within the next six weeks. So, that 50 win possibility may well be higher than what they end up at.

Where would the Baltimore Orioles appear amongst the worst teams of all time? Let’s look through MLB history and see what the Orioles are up against.
