Chicago White Sox: Eloy Jimenez leads a host of promotions in the system
On Thursday, the Chicago White Sox announced a host of promotions in the minor leagues, including their top prospect
The Chicago White Sox are in the midst of a rough season at the major league level. There’s no way to spruce that up or make it sound pretty.
However, the team’s farm system is seeing some excellent performances from the top players, and on Thursday, the team made a number of moves to promote top players along the way in the upper minors or to the upper minors within the system.
OF Eloy Jimenez, RHP Ian Hamilton, and C Seby Zavala to AAA Charlotte

Hamilton is a reliever, a fastball/slider type that could move quickly as a ROOGY type, but has some real ability that could be harnessed into a back-end bullpen guy.
Zavala has been a revelation this year, partnering with top catching prospect Zach Collins to form an impressive duo for Birmingham. Both will be able to get more playing time with this move.
RHP Dylan Cease, RHP Matt Foster, LHP Bernardo Flores, OF Joel Booker, RHP Zach Thompson, OF Luis Alexander Basabe, and OF Alex Call to AA Birmingham
Dylan Cease leads this group coming to Birmingham as he’s finally had both health and control in the same season, and the quick ascension is a result.
The whole new outfield in Birmingham should certainly be watched as they don’t necessarily have tremendously high ceilings, but each of Basabe, Call, and Booker have some definite tools that could lead to a future MLB job.
OF Luis Robert, RHP Blake Battenfield, RHP Tyler Johnson, SS Laz Rivera, OF Luis Gonzalez, and RHP Lincoln Henzman to high-A Winston-Salem
Luis Robert is an incredible talent, and he’s certainly going to move fast up the system in 2018, with a look toward possible major league time in 2019 if he can handle the push.
Battenfield has shown well as a late-round draftee this year, and Gonzalez has shown his high floor as a 2017 college draftee with a shot to be a future role player or more if he keeps pushing his skill set.
