After a sweep at the hands of their border rivals, the Minnesota Twins are ready to sell this season and focus on 2019
Per a report from Jon Morosi, the Minnesota Twins have officially told other teams that they are willing to move their upcoming free agent players, officially making the Minnesota Twins sellers and turning the page on the 2018 season.
While that part could be frustrating for a Minnesota Twins fan, the next month should be very intriguing, if not outright exciting, with a host of very attractive trade chips that will be free agents after the season. A nugget mentioned in the MLB Trade Rumors piece mentioned that one executive thought the Twins would likely listen on a whole host of players, not just pending free agents.
The pending free agents for the Minnesota Twins (with no options considered) are an impressive list:
Brian Dozier may be the guy who has cost himself the most money going into the 2018-2019 free agent class, and even if he was playing well, there really isn’t a big need at second base for contenders currently. The guys who should draw plenty of interest will be Escobar, Duke, and Rodney. Santana is rehabbing currently, but if he could get a couple starts for the Minnesota Twins before the deadline, he could be a valuable piece, as he’s got an affordable option as well.

The Minnesota Twins could also listen on some of their other pieces, and one that will be very interesting to see if anyone approaches the team on struggling slugger
Miguel Sanohoping to “buy low”. Some believe that Twins brass have soured on Sano, but how far that level of souring has gone could be determined by the deal they’re willing to take for him.
One of the team’s better performers that could have kicked up his trade value too much to pass up a possible deal is Kyle Gibson, and while that would put a dent in the current rotation, the Minnesota Twins have a host of pitchers at AA/AAA that could filter in over the last three months of the season to cover the spot if he was traded today, and certainly if he were a trade deadline deal, that’s roughly 10 starts to cover until the end of the season.
Whether the Twins will listen on their young outfielders Eddie Rosario or Max Kepler is anyone’s guess, but Robbie Grossman could be a target for a team looking for a bench outfielder, though that’s not exactly a big prospect haul sort of deal.

While waving the white flag on a season and selling is never fun, Minnesota Twins fans should be comforted by the fact that their organization does have some very intriguing pieces that could lead to some players that will help as soon as 2019!
