2018 MLB All-Star Game:
The American League won a game marked by home runs and premium velocity on Tuesday, squeezing in the game between daytime showers and rain that drenched the area after the game was completed.

The game featured a record 10 home runs between the two clubs. The game was the 8th straight victory for the American League in the MLB All-Star Game, but coming into the game, the two leagues were evenly matched with 44 wins apiece over the previous midsummer classics.

Top Pitcher

With just a few pitchers that even pitched more than an inning, two pitchers with a single inning pitched are the choice here. Chris Sale made his third straight start for the American League, pitching a scoreless first inning, allowing a hit, and striking out one. He was followed by Luis Severino, who also tossed a scoreless inning, allowing a hit, striking out two.

For the National League, the AL put together a rally against the best reliever in the game this year, Josh Hader, before Brad Hand came in to shut it down. He completed a perfect inning of pitching with one strikeout.

Top Hitter

With plenty of players going deep, the game MVP was awarded to Alex Bregman based on his game-winning home run in the top of the 10th inning. However, the guy on the American League who truly had the best offensive game was Jean Segura, who went 2-3, smacking the 3-run home run in the 8th inning off of Hader. He also scored the final run of the game.

The National League just had one player reach base twice, and that was J.T. Realmuto, who walked twice. The player of choice here, though, is Scooter Gennett, who came in against Edwin Diaz in the 9th inning and powered out a 2-run home run to give the NL new life and spark the game into extra innings.
