Washington Nationals 6, Atlanta Braves @ in Washington – The Nationals jumped out to a 3-run lead in the first inning, and that’s all Max Scherzer would need to secure his 13th victory on the season as the Nationals pulled back to .500 with the win.

San Diego Padres 10, Philadelphia Phillies 2 in Philadelphia, Game 1 – The Padres jumped out to a 3-run lead in the top of the first inning, and they never looked back, as Tyson Ross hurled a masterful game in the opener of the doubleheader.

Philadelphia Phillies 5, San Diego Padres 0 in Philadelphia, Game 2 – After getting beaten pretty soundly in the opener, the Phillies bounced back behind starter Vince Velasquez to shutout the Padres in the nightcap for a doubleheader split.

Chicago Cubs 7, St. Louis Cardinals 2 in Chicago – A tight game through 5 innings turned to the Cubs in the 6th, and they put it out of reach with a 3-run 8th inning.

New York Mets @ New York Yankees in New York – Postponed

Boston Red Sox 9, Detroit Tigers 1 in Detroit – The Red Sox got an excellent performance from ace Chris Sale and a big performance from their offense to come away with the road victory on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Rays 6, Miami Marlins 4 in Tampa Bay – The Marlins put up 4 runs in the 2nd inning and made it stand up until the Rays walked off with a dramatic grand slam from Daniel Robertson in the bottom of the 9th to win the Sunday afternoon game.

Los Angeles Dodgers 11, Milwaukee Brewers 2 in Milwaukee – The Dodgers put up 5 runs in both the 2nd and 5th inning, using those two outbursts to lock down a road win in Milwaukee on Sunday.

Pittsburgh Pirates 9, Cincinnati Reds 2 in Cincinnati – The Pirates jumped out to a big lead early with six runs over the first two innings, and they were able to make it stand up for the road win on Sunday.

Kansas City Royals 5, Minnesota Twins 3 in Kansas City – The Twins jumped out to a 2-0 road lead, but the Royals got those runs back, and then saw a 3-run home run from Drew Butera close out their scoring and put the distance too far for the Twins offense to overcome.

Los Angeles Angels 14, Houston Astros 5 in Los Angeles – The Angels closed out the intradivisional series with a big offensive explosion on Sunday, using a 7-run 7th inning to fuel the big scoreboard numbers.

Texas Rangers 5, Cleveland Indians 0 in Texas – The Indians left all of their offense on Saturday, following up their 16 run outburst on Saturday with none on Sunday. The Rangers found runs hard as well until a 3-run bottom of the 8th put distance in the score.

Arizona Diamondbacks 6, Colorado Rockies 1 in ArizonaZack Greinke pitched a gem against the Rockies as the Diamondbacks offense was able to give him enough runs to be comfortable on the mound.

Oakland Athletics 6, San Francisco Giants 5, 10 innings in Oakland – Another day, another extra-inning game in the Bay series on Sunday as the two starters struggled to some degree, but the A’s were able to walk off with the win.

Seattle Mariners 8, Chicago White Sox 2 in Seattle – The Mariners jumped out with 5 runs in the first inning, and they coasted from that point to an easy victory on Sunday.

On a day with some very good performances, none was quite as good as Zack Greinke, who was dominant for Arizona Sunday, as he tossed 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and a walk, striking out 13.

Top Hitter

Ryan Healy fueled a big Seattle offensive explosion on Sunday with a huge game, going 3-4 with a pair of home runs, driving in 6 runs on the day.
