The Seattle Mariners have not made the playoffs since 2001.  As the Mariners have a great chance at a Wild Card spot, the Mariners will be exploring all possible options to upgrade the team.

According to Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times, Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto said he will be focused on pitching at the trade deadline.

"“We’ve certainly had our feelers out there on a variety of different things that would help our pitching staff, whether it be bullpen or starting pitching,” he said. “And we’ve even kept some feelers out there for the potential to add a position player, whether it’s something versatile or just an addition that might help us in some way, whether it’s upgrading defense or it’s helping add a boost to our offense. But we do know that with Cano coming back that’s maybe not something I would call a primary concern. We would prefer to focus on pitching.”"

Dipoto also addressed the approval he has to make moves to further improve the team in that same article with the Seattle Times.

"“We have the resources,” he said. “And we have been told over and over that if there is something out there we can attain that helps us, then go do it.”"

During Dipoto’s time with the Mariners, he has not shied away from making trades.

In July of 2017, he acquired David Phelps from the Miami Marlins and Erasmo Ramirez from the Tampa Bay Rays.  In August of 2017, he acquired Yonder Alonso from the Oakland Athletics.

Over the offseason, he acquired Dee Gordon from the Marlins and Ryon Healy from the Athletics.

During the 2018 season, he acquired Alex Colome and Denard Span from the Rays.

The Mariners will be active at the trade deadline, so let’s take a look at possible trade candidates for the Seattle Mariners.
