On Thursday the New York Yankees placed Aaron Judge on the 10-Day DL with a right wrist fracture. How will this affect the Bronx Bombers going forward?

Last night reigning AL Rookie of the Year, Aaron Judge, was hit on the wrist during a game against the Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium. Initial reports say Judge will miss 3-4 weeks, but there is hope he can return before the New York Yankees final push for October.

So, will the Yankees be okay?

If you’re asking me, the Yankees will be just fine. Judge has been great this season, his 2018 WAR is the best on the squad, at 5.4. New York has prepared for this exact occurrence. Between Giancarlo Stanton and Didi Gregorius, their offense is stacked. The call-up of Gleyber Torres is just one reason the Yanks find themselves 28 games above.500.

The Red Sox, however, are the one thing standing between the Bronx Bombers and first.

One thing is for sure, the Yankees intend to put up a fight. The trade deadline isn’t even here yet, and so many top players have already been moved. Manny Machado went to LA and Cole Hamels is reportedly re-joining his former teammate Yu Darvish on the North Side.

Thr Yankees, however, have made a few big moves of their own. They traded for Zach Britton just days ago and added another arm to their rotation on Thursday in J.A. Happ.

Aaron Judge is the very definition of elite. He is the kind of player you build around and is the kind of player you win championships with.

Yes, he is injured, and injuries are risky. Sometimes a player comes back better than ever, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes an injury everyone thought was gone can linger and cause problems. There’s no way to tell how Judge will play when he returns from the disabled list. His complete and unwavering determination, however, point to all things falling in the most positive of directions.

Even if his season were to end today, he would finish with 26 homers, 105 hits, and a .283 average. It’s not the stellar second act we were hoping for, but it is pretty good.

That said, his season isn’t over, not as of now, at least. He still has plenty of time to help a Yankees squad that, were they to play in virtually any other division, would be in first place.

The Yankees have been excellent all season. Sure, Judge has been a clear strength, but he hasn’t been their only strength.
