Last night, the Dodgers broke out of their (mostly) team-wide offensive slump, roaring past the Brewers 21-5.

The Dodgers are good, we know that much. We know that Clayton Kershaw is, well, Clayton Kershaw, and that the resurgence of Matt Kemp is a driving force in the organization. What we didn’t know, or rather, what we haven’t seen, is how good these Dodgers are when everyone is hitting at the same time. It felt like home run on top of home run. It felt like Cody Bellinger‘s slump-busting grand slam was just something else for us to be amazed by.

And boy were we amazed.

The flurry of runs began in the first when Joc Pederson hit a solo homer. Both teams put up zeros in the second but, in the third, the Dodgers broke it open with a five-run inning, capped off by Cody Bellinger’s third career grand slam.

The furry of offense didn’t stop there, as the Dodgers followed with 15 runs in innings 4-8. 7 home runs were hit, including two by Pederson and Yasiel Puig. Bellinger, Justin Turner, and Brian Dozier each hit one into the pavilions. With runners in scoring position, they were 7-9 in bringing them home, something the team hasn’t been able to do well all season.

And, with last night, the Dodgers’ front office’s expertise was proven once again, with newly acquired second basemen Brian Dozier, as he hit his second home run in a Los Angeles uniform in as many games.

Even Clayton Kershaw got a hit, proving that he may just be the best hitting pitcher in baseball right now.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

Last night was so important for the Dodgers. Though they were not even close to returning to their losing ways of April and May, they weren’t playing their best. They lost one in Atlanta, and two to Milwaukee before walking off against the Brew Crew on Wednesday and lighting up the Ravine on Thursday.

Last night was also important, not because of who they beat, though the Brewers may be postseason bound, but because who is coming into town.

Tonight, it’s Houston versus Los Angeles in LA; a World Series rematch for the ages.

Fans haven’t seen the Dodgers play like that in a very long time. All we can do now is hope that it continues.
