high-A Featured Performer

The Dodgers often show they know more than the average bear when it comes to development. Carlos Rincon is a perfect example this season. Seemingly the last guy worthy of a promotion as he was hitting .226 with a sub-.700 OPS, Rincon was nonetheless bumped up to high-A, and he’s responded with a 1.295 OPS in his first 8 games. On Tuesday, he had a big night, going 2-3 with a pair of home runs, 3 RBI, and 2 walks.

Phillies prospect Spencer Howard has been consistent, if not spectacular, for Lakewood this season. After getting rained out of a shutout performance on July 31st, he got the win in a scoreless appearance Tuesday, going 6 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6.
