Chicago White Sox: Eloy Jimenez says he’s ready and he’s right
Chicago White Sox fans have been wondering why Eloy Jimenez has not been promoted to the majors. Even Jimenez himself feels that he is ready.
Heading into 2018, great things were expected from Chicago White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez. He was a consensus top prospect, ranked in the top six by virtually every major prospect prognosticator. He was ranked as the fourth best prospect in the game in our midseason top 150 prospects, as he continued to deliver on his promise in the minors.
With the White Sox solidly out of contention, and bringing up prospects like Michael Kopech, it would appear to be a matter of time until Jimenez is in the majors. In fact, even the young outfielder feels that he is ready, saying so in an article for The Player’s Tribune.
Well, you know, here you go:Chicago, I’m ready!Right now.I’m ready to go.I’m ready to put on that White Sox uniform and show you all what I can do.

It is difficult to argue with his assessment. Although he got a late start in baseball, first playing at nine years old, Jimenez quickly made up for lost time. He has been an impressive prospect since being signed, and his performance this year has done nothing to limit his stature.
Assigned to the AA Birmingham Barons to start the 2018 campaign, Jimenez crushed AA pitching. He produced an excellent .317/.368/.556 batting line, hitting ten homers and 15 doubles in 228 plate appearances. Promoted to AAA, Jimenez continued to mash, with a .347/.391/.600 batting line, 11 homers, and ten doubles in 184 plate appearances.
Although he is only 21, Jimenez has proven he can handle the competition in the International League. As the White Sox need to find pieces for the future, the time has come to bring up their top prospect, allowing him to get a taste of life in the majors for the next few weeks. As Kopech is already at the major league level, why not bring up their top offensive player as well?
Chicago White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez thinks he is ready for the majors, and he is correct. It is time to see what he can do at the major league level.
