Some pairings were just meant to be. It is about time that Texas Rangers pitcher Bartolo Colon was used to endorse something related to food, as he has a hilarious advertisement for Kingsford Charcoal.
Texas Rangers pitcher Bartolo Colon is an inspiration for middle aged fellows everywhere. With a body that would look at home in a beer league softball game, Colon just pounds the strike zone with fastballs. Somehow, he still finds success, even though his numbers have slipped over the past few months.
With Colon’s body type being what is is, there are certain endorsement deals that just make sense. One of those endorsements finally came about, as Colon has quite the entertaining advertisement for Kingsford Charcoal.

To be fair, that is the type of workout we can envision Colon enjoying. And he does look at home behind the grill, just as though he was on the mound. Just like a James Shields fastball, Colon took this idea and belted it out of the park.
However, this may be one of the last opportunities that Colon has for endorsement revenue. After a solid start to the season, Colon has struggled of late. Overall, his 7-12 record, along with a 5.78 ERA and a 1.346 WHiP, are not stellar, but that performance is better than last season. He is still showing excellent command, with just 25 walks in 146.1 innings, but Colon only has 81 strikeouts this season. The steady diet of fastballs have become meatballs as the year has continued.
Yet, there is always the chance that some team will give Colon a look next season. He has remained healthy, which has plenty of value in this day and age. The biggest problem has been that Colon has allowed 32 homers on the season. But put him in a bigger ballpark with some excellent outfield defense…
We may be seeing the end of Bartolo Colon’s time in the majors. If that is the case, the Texas Rangers pitcher will just have more time to continue making these excellent advertisements.
