The Star Tribune reported that the Diario Libre (a Dominican news website) said that Sano expressed willingness to pay for medical and recovery expenses for the injured officer.
This incident comes a week after Miguel Sano ended his season with the Minnesota Twins. The 25 year old slugger had returned to the Dominican Republic for the offseason.
“We have been made aware of the situation involving Miguel Sano in the Dominican Republic. We are still gathering facts at this point,” a Twins spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports.
This story should continue to work itself out as more information becomes available. Sano is expected to return to the local police station on Monday.
