The Detroit Tigers remain stuck in a rebuilding process. This coming offseason, they may need to find a few affordable options or upgrades to fill holes on their current roster.

In 2018, the Detroit Tigers played reasonably well, considering the circumstances. Not only were the Tigers in the early stages of a rebuilding process, but they had to play most of the season without slugging superstar Miguel Cabrera, who was lost for the year with a biceps injury in June.

Key players such as starting pitchers Michael Fulmer and Daniel Norris spent time on the disabled list as well. Norris, who dealt with a groin injury this past season, appeared in only 11 contests. At the end of the year, Fulmer’s numbers were far less impressive than those of the first two years of his career. Though Norris has shown flashes of promise, the Tigers are still waiting for his breakout season.

Overall, the Tigers went 64-98, which, although not overly impressive, was good for a third place finish in the AL Central. Going into coming offseason, the Tigers may need to make a couple of hard choices.

The Tigers will need to fill holes created by players leaving via free agency or retiring (i.e. Jose Iglesias and Victor Martinez). There are other players who could likely be replaced by more affordable, possibly more productive options. A possible position change could be in store for a player or two as well. Without further ado, here are a trio of key questions the Detroit Tigers will need to answer this coming offseason.
