While a trade may be unlikely, if the Chicago Cubs decide to move Kris Bryant, where could they trade him to?

What is sure to be an interesting winter for the Chicago Cubs just got a bit more interesting less than two weeks before Thanksgiving. After losing the NL Central tiebreaker to the Milwaukee Brewers, then losing the Wild Card game to the Colorado Rockies there are sure to be changes in Wrigleyville.

The name that you don’t really expect to be out there on the trade is Kris Bryant. Nevertheless, it appears that the Chicago Cubs are open for buisness inclduing Bryant.

"But it’s possible that the Cubs will trade him, perhaps as soon as this winter. As part of their early offseason discussions, according to sources, the Cubs have indicated to other teams they are willing to discuss trade proposals for almost all of the players on their roster and those sources say that includes Bryant, who struggled in 2018, batting .272 with 13 homers in 102 games. Bryant went on the disabled list twice with left shoulder trouble."

Bryant will not be a free agent until the 2022 season and he’s coming off a down year and shoulder issues, so the Chicago Cubs wouldn’t exactly be selling high.

What if the Chicago Cubs said to opposing clubs, you can have Bryant, but you have to take Tyler Chatwood as well, to give the club more flexibility. Maybe they then take the savings and give it to Manny Machado, this way, they give the big money now and still have an excellent infield option in his own right, plus the prospects that they get in the trade.

Look, are the Chicago Cubs dealing Kris Bryant? Probably not. That doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun with it. Here are five teams the Chicago Cubs could deal Bryant to if they were so inclined.
