The New York Yankees are determined to move pitcher Sonny Gray this off-season. Where could he end up?

It’s over.

We are screwed.

No, it’s not Michael Scott when they almost closed the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin. It may be how New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman felt when watching Sonny Gray at times during the 2018 season.

The New York Yankees traded a haul to get from the Oakland Athletics at the 2017 trade deadline. Well, James Kaprelian got hurt, Dustin Fowler didn’t do much in the majors and Jorge Mateo hit .230 in AAA.

The New York Yankees appear ready to turn the page and realize that Gray and New York just don’t mix

"“We are going to move him if we get the right deal because I don’t think it is going to work out in The Bronx,” Cashman told me Monday at the GM Meetings. “I don’t feel like we can go through the same exercise and expect different results.”"

This isn’t exactly the usual talk that you get from a General Manger. It was open and honest and realistic.

Gray had a 3.17 ERA on the road while at home it was 6.98. Even with all that he still had a 50% groundball rate and a 20% strikeout rate, something only five pitchers managed to do last season. He has about $9 million coming to him this off-season and will hit the free agent market after next season.

So, where could the New York Yankees ultimately trade the right-hander? Let’s take a look.
