On Thursday, Chicago White Sox legend Frank Thomas reminded everyone of his greatness in a blast at ESPN.

There is no questioning Mike Trout‘s greatness. The Los Angeles Angels star finished second in the MVP vote again this past year, marking the seventh time that he has finished in the top four in the voting. That total is better than the likes of Alex Rodriguez, Rickey Henderson, and Joe DiMaggio, amongst others. Pretty impressive for a 27 year old.

Yet, in that list of legends that Trout surpassed, one of the great players of this generation was left out. Chicago White Sox Hall of Famer Frank Thomas also finished in the top four of the MVP vote six times, something he was quick to point out.

This just illustrates how, even though Thomas was undeniably excellent over his career, he is overlooked. In his 19 year career, he produced a .301/.419/.555 batting line, hitting 521 homers and driving in 1704 runs. Thomas was five time All Star, won two MVP awards, and was a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Of course, the White Sox are often overlooked on these sort of graphics as well. They went 88 years between World Series victories, but were overshadowed by the Red Sox and the Cubs. Hell, the White Sox are essentially forgotten in their own city, even when the Cubs were mediocre at best.

Naturally, with this sort of list, not every player can be mentioned. Some of the greatest of their generation, no question Hall of Fame talents, would be left off regardless. It is impossible to make everyone happy when comparing players, because someone will be left out. In this case, one of those players happened to be Frank Thomas.

However, he took that opportunity to remind everyone of what type of player he was, one of the greatest players in Chicago White Sox history.
