The Cincinnati Reds are looking to make some moves this offseason

At least the Cincinnati Reds are aware of what they need to do in order to find their way back to respectability.

More from Call to the Pen

Solidly in the basement of what has become an extremely competitive NL Central, the Reds will need to improve their pitching in order climb up the standings. This is something that Krall has focused on, as they have been linked to Dallas Keuchel and J.A. Happ. The Reds have also kicked the tires on Patrick Corbin, although he is expected to land in either Philadelphia or New York. And, of course, they are looking to retain Matt Harvey after he began to find himself once again in a Reds uniform.

Likewise, the Mets have been a popular name on the trade market as well. They have been mentioned as a possible destination for both Noah Syndergaard and Corey Kluber, as well as a landing spot for reclamation project Sonny Gray.

Of course, it is all well and good to be connected to various players, but it is something else to actually make these deals happen. At minimum, the Reds need to add a top of the rotation starter, and likely another piece to the back of the rotation. A trade with the Phillies could be an option, as they have placed Pat Neshek on the block. He may not cost much on the prospect front, yet would go a long way towards solidifying the bullpen.

The road to respectability is easy to see for the Cincinnati Reds. They just need to add the pieces necessary to get there.
