The Phillies unveiled a new primary logo earlier this week, which will appear on various pieces of merchandise and uniforms in 2019.

The Philadelphia Phillies Majestic Clubhouse store and the Philadelphia Phillies official Twitter account announced Friday that the team will be adding a new primary logo to the roster of merchandise and jerseys. It actually looked as though the announcement was accidental, as the official Twitter account was almost forced to confirm it after the clubhouse store posted the video.

The logo, which is quite similar to their current logo, will be available at the clubhouse store immediately and will, according to a recent article from CBS Philadelphia, appear on jerseys in the near future. T-shirts and hats with the new logo are currently available for purchase at the official Phillies shop on MLB.com, with more new items donning the new emblem sure to come in the near future.

The logo isn’t radically different from the now probably defunct diamond logo, as it replaces the diamond shape with the Liberty Bell in a navy shaded background. While the diamond logo (which hasn’t confirmed to be removed from the logo palette), was more robustly shaped, this new logo appears to be more linear and in a landscape layout.

As That Ball’s Outta Here alluded to in their column, the new logo is quite similar to the one that the Phillies have been using in Spring Training, further noting that logo is quite popular among fans of the team.

Most of the responses to the tweet, and subsequent analysis columns, seemed to look favourably upon the new logo, with the majority of them praising the new, fresh look that the team’s uniforms will likely boast in 2019 and beyond.
