The Orioles uniform looks good. From the script “Orioles” and occasionally “Baltimore” on the chest of the jersey to the smiley bird on the cap, the team’s uniform is stylish.

The Oriole bird is a caricature that works. The bird has that little smirk on its face, which gives it a look of confidence. The bird’s baseball hat has a brim that’s larger than usual, but on a caricature, it works. With the “O’s” on the hat, the bird pays homage to the history of the team.

The logo also works because it’s fitting for adults and kids. Anyone can sport that logo on a hat or a tee. It’s fun and athletic at the same time.

During special events, like Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Independence Day, team designers chose to change the color of the Oriole bird. The caricature of the Oriole bird has shown up on team hats throughout the years, but the current version has been slightly altered from previous years. It’s beak has been shortened, the eyes are different than the version used in the 80s, and the head is at less of a tilt than the versions used in the 70s.

Along with the jaunty bird, the occasional use of the actual bird (not a caricature) also looks fantastic on players’ hats. The bird is featured on the team’s primary logo, as it is perched atop the dot on the “i”.

The Orioles may not have won many games in 2018, but they looked good while they were on the field. And, so did the fans who bought their colorful gear.
