Behind the Phillies front-office door, the deal-making requirements fans rarely chew on are numerous for general manager Matt Klentak because of scouting reports, medicals, and intangible considerations for more than one campaign.

Wishful projecting:

While the Philadelphia Phillies add to the groundwork started in the last two months, the faithful wait for acquisition news. Unfortunately, some don’t realize the offseason like the 162 has separate parts, or they just want to reach the destination without the journey: They are impatient negatively.

"IN OTHER WORDS:       “It’s funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.” – Rick Riordan"

Where the faithful read or hear about their home team reveals their judgement, real or perceived. Are they after entertainment, information, or confirmation of their own conclusions? Yes, some writers either agree with them or pen what they want to hear. A built-in audience, no?

As for info, some believe national broadcasters or scribes have everything possible, but covering 30 franchises in depth is basically impossible. Yet many supporters think their access provides something extra, but organizations never publicize sensitive details. So, fans accept ifs, standard replies and/or guesstimates.

Regarding local media, some cover multiple sports, and again splitting their attention limits their depth. Of course, many think only –only– a university product, experience and income equals a reliable source. Therefore, a validation.

On the other hand, William Shakespeare didn’t have those credentials, and some college graduates 100 years after his death claimed he couldn’t have written his literary works. However, creative writing teaches you the construction, but being creative is something you’re born with, no?

In a recent question from Double D, a poster from another Phillies site, he wondered about the value received from the Carlos Santana trade with the Seattle Mariners. Well, Klentak’s move was excellent but not for most publicized reasons. In fact, many scribes had a negative view of the signing to begin with.

When some Philadelphia media had doubted the adding of Santana and using Rhys Hoskins as the left fielder, outside and national writers only repeated their assessment. But did most reach a conclusion they hadn’t decided on day one: last Dec. 20? No, probably not!
