The NL East had some signings, but nothing was mind-blowing. And, some unexpected teams stayed relatively quiet.

The Marlins weren’t expected to do much, but the Braves silence was unexpected. But, it seemed as if a few of the teams would accomplish more during the time the vital front office staffs were all together.

Marlins

There are a few teams that are absolutely boring right now and the Marlins are one of them. All they did was outright two players that no one outside of the Marlins organization have ever heard of: Yadiel Rivera, Brett Graves. Their fans deserve something to cheer for.

Grade Big. Fat. F

Nationals

After add Patrick Corbin and Kurt Suzuki earlier in the off-season, the Nationals were not expected to do much. But they did make a trade with the Reds that offered unusual headlines as it isn’t often that writers get to see two guys named Tanner traded. The Nats acquired reliever Tanner Rainey and sent Tanner Roark to the Reds. Roark is a decent pitcher who finished 2018 with an ERA of 4.34. Rainey pitched seven innings of relief in 2018. His stats aren’t worth mentioning.

Grade: C

Mets

The Mets new GM Brodie Van Wagenen is having fun in his first Hot Stove season. Even though he only completed one transaction, it was one that the fans can get behind. Jeurys Familia is on his way back to New York.

Grade: B

Phillies

For a team that has stupid money to spend, not much was spent. Matt Klentak did make an unexpected signing bring aboard former Pirates All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen. Fans all over the MLB love him, so this was a good signing. Deep down, we were all hoping to see something crazy go down with the Phillies.

Grade: B

Braves

Didn’t do anything.
