Minnesota Twins sign RHP Mike Morin
Mike Morin, 27, spent the 2018 season in the Seattle Mariners organization. He now joins the Minnesota Twins on a minor-league deal.
According to Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage, the Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Mike Morin. Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 confirmed Warne’s report while adding that Morin’s minor-league deal includes an invite to spring training. The team has not yet confirmed the signing.
Morin, 27, was drafted in 2012 by the Los Angeles Angels, the team with which he would make his major league debut in 2014. In parts of four seasons with the Angels, he pitched to an ERA of 4.61 over 170.0 innings, striking out 160 and walking 48.

His best season, by a wide margin, was his rookie year, in which he pitched 59 frames to an ERA of 2.90, adding a WHIP of 1.186 and striking out 54 in 60 outings. He has since been unable to keep his ERA under 4.00 in a full season.
In 2017, he was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Royals, who in turned waived him later that year. He was then claimed by the Seattle Mariners and spent the 2018 season in their organization, logging 4.0 major league innings in three outings, spending the majority of the season with the Mariners’ Triple-A team, the Tacoma Rainiers.
A native of Andover, Minnesota, he has appeared in 186 major league contest overall, and figures to become more or less of a depth signing for the Twins. For his career, he has 166 strikeouts, 49 walks, 10 wins, eight losses, one save, and a WHIP of 1.282 to go along with a cumulative WAR of -1.1.
