What are the implications for Miguel Andujar now that the New York Yankees have signed DJ LeMahieu?
On Tuesday, the New York Yankees shocked the baseball world when it was reported, per the YES Network’s Jack Curry, that they had signed DJ LeMahieu to a 2-year, $24M deal.
This has to mean that the “fully operational Death Star” is out on Manny Macahdo, right?
Maybe.

We have seen the Yankees, in years past, sneak in, like thieves in the night, and make the surprise move/deal.
Who could forget the Yankees trading for Alex Rodriguez after he and the Boston Red Sox failed to restructure his deal to the MLBPA’s liking?
How about trading just about nobody for Giancarlo Stanton last year?
Don’t forget about signing Mark Teixeira after reports came out that New York had withdrawn their offer for him? Did you forget about that?
If there is one thing ALL Yankees fans should know, it’s that the Yanks are never out of it.
Miguel Andujar‘s name has been thrown around quite a bit this offseason in trade rumors. First, we heard about a deal involving Andujar and the Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto.
Then, it was reported that the San Diego Padres, who are in need of a 3B, love themselves some Miguel Andujar. What’s more, GM Brian Cashman is set on moving SP Sonny Gray, and rumors that the Padres might be interested.
Is it possible that the Yankees unload both Andujar and Gray for prospects, while at the same time making room for Manny Machado.
I say again, when it comes to star players, the New York Yankees are never out of it.
So, what does signing DJ LeMahieu mean for the Yankees pursuit of Manny Machado?
Nothing.
