Padres Rumors report team is willing to flip Corey Kluber in 3-Way Trade
If Corey Kluber is traded to the San Diego Padres, a three-way deal is not out of the question according to Padres rumors. Here are a couple of landing spots for the 2-time Cy Young Award Winner.
On Monday, Dennis Lin, Padres reporter for The Athletic, reported that the Padres rumors surrounding Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber have been “primarily” to flip him.
Earlier, Lin had reported that he, alongside colleague Ken Rosenthal, had been told that the Padres were interested in working on a three-team deal, specifically with the Cincinnati Reds. The Padres have long been rumored to be looking for a young 3B, especially after deciding to move Wil Myers back to the OF.
Upon learning about this latest report, you have to wonder if the Yankees and Brian Cashman might be interested in getting on the horn with Padres GM A.J. Preller to work something out with Indians GM Mike Chernoff.

All teams have a need that the other can fulfill.
- The Padres want a young 3B, which is exactly what Yankees 3B Miguel Andujar is.
- The Indians want to trade Corey Kluber in exchange for outfield help and/or prospects, both of which the Padres are loaded with.
- The Yankees could use a surefire ace, which is exactly what Kluber is.
What’s more, trading Andujar would create an opening at 3B for the Yankees, and guess which elite defensive 3B is available in the free agent market?
Another team that could strike are the Los Angeles Dodgers. With reports fluttering all offseason linking the Dodgers to Kluber, you have to wonder if this latest report has piqued the interest of Andrew Friedman.
Can you imagine a rotation that features Clayton Kershaw and Corey Kluber, two guys with 5-Cy Youngs between them?
If this happens, just give the NL Pennant to the Dodgers.
It’s important to note that, according to Dennis Lin, no deal is close at this time with the San Diego Padres. This is, however, something to watch for in the coming weeks in Padres rumors.
