With a little under a month left before Spring Training begins, should the New York Yankees forget about Manny Machado and set their sights on Bryce Harper instead?

After years of work to get under the luxury tax threshold in order to position themselves as buyers this offseason, all that is left for the New York Yankees to do before the start of Spring Training is to sign one of the two big names left on the market: Manny Machado or Bryce Harper.

Now, the whole Manny Machado to the Yankees fiasco has been treated as a foregone conclusion this entire offseason. A marriage between the kid from Miami who idolized Alex Rodriguez growing up, so much so that he wore #13 on his back while manning third for most of his young career, almost looked like it was meant to be.

But what if the Yankees and their fans have been looking in the wrong direction all along?

What if it’s Bryce Harper they should’ve been targeting, and not Manny Machado?

Both players would certainly improve any lineup in baseball, let alone the Yankee lineup, but if you really look at the needs of this organization, it’s Bryce Harper that makes the most sense, not Manny Machado.
