Longtime manager of the San Francisco Giants, Bruce Bochy, announced that 2019 will be his final season. What is next for the legendary skipper?

On Monday, longtime manager of the San Francisco Giants, Bruce Bochy, announced that he will retire following the 2019 season. This will be Bochy’s 13th season at the helm for San Francisco. Over his tenure, the Giants have won three World Series titles (2010, 2012 and 2014), and have produced a record of 979-965.

Bochy broke the news to his club before their work out on Monday, later posting a grateful message to Twitter.

2019 will be the end of Bochy’s second long-standing managerial role. Prior to joining the Giants, Bochy served as the skipper of the San Diego Padres (1995-2006), where he led the Friars to three playoff berths and one World Series appearance. According to Baseball Reference, Bruce Bochy is currently the Padres’ winningest manager.

As you can see, Bruce Bochy is set to retire with a long resume.

So, what’s next?

According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Bochy plans to stay involved in Major League Baseball, specifically with the Giants.

Could enshrinement in the Hall of Fame also be in Bochy’s future?

Signs seem to be pointed towards the possibility, as Bochy is one of ten MLB managers to win at least three World Series titles… The other nine managers are in the Hall of Fame. Bochy, a baseball lifer, has had quite the career and certainly deserves the honor.

Bruce Bochy’s retirement seems to be coming at a predictable time. New Giants’ President of Baseball Operations, Farhan Zaidi, will be able to handpick Bochy’s replacement, further ushering in a new era of baseball for the San Francisco Giants.

Next. Giants in on Bryce Harper but.... dark

Bruce Bochy will always be connected to the San Francisco Giants as baseball will not forget his team’s dominance over the past decade. The team has fallen on hard times as of late, but Bruce Bochy’s legacy is already written. Congrats on a long successful career, Bruce.
