Yankees: Babe Ruth’s Last Living Daughter Has Passed at the Age of 102

Julia Ruth Stevens, New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth’s last surviving daughter has died, according to her family. She was 102 years old.

Early Saturday, Julia Ruth Stevens, daughter of New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth passed away in her sleep, according to her family via Babe Ruth’s tribute page on Facebook.

"“It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Julia Ruth Stevens who passed away early in the morning of March 9th after a short illness. Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lived a wonderful, full life during the 102 years that she was with us.”"

Babe Ruth adopted Mrs. Stevens after marrying her mother on Opening Day, 1929, according to the New York Times.

According to her families statement, She called Babe Ruth “daddy” through the end.

Mrs. Stevens was known to visit ballparks across the country to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. In fact, at the last game in the old Yankee Stadium, of referred to as “the House That Ruth Built”, she threw out the first pitch.

Most recently, Mrs. Stevens was seen in public when in honor of her 100th birthday, she threw out the first ball at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park on July 10, 2016 (above).

Mrs. Stevens leaves behind her son, Tom Stevens, his wife, Anita Stevens, their children and great-grandchildren.
