With the 2019 MLB Season set to kick off in approximately 2-weeks, there are still a lot of free agents available. Here are the top five players still on the market.
The 2019 MLB season is upon us and there are still too many free agents without a team. In an offseason with three record-breaking contracts, its surprising to see just how unwilling teams are to spend money on decent players.
We’re talking about players like Logan Morrison, who just two seasons ago hit 38 HR and slugged .516 while with the Tampa Bay Rays. Or Edwin Jackson, who with the Oakland Athletics, posted a 3.33 ERA in 17 starts last season. Even Brandon Phillips is only one season removed from a season in which he hit 34 doubles while batting .285.
These players won’t break the bank and could contribute in one way or another. They are also a class below another group of free agents who are also still available, and whose price should at this point be plummeting.
I’m talking about historically good relief pitchers, former Cy Young award winners, all-stars, MVP candidates, and Gold Glove award winners.
There’s no reason for these guys to still be on the market, but since they are, I’ve gone ahead and ranked the top 5 players still available from worst to best.
