Baker Mayfield

Next up, we have Baker Mayfield.

His speed conversion comes in at a less impressive 7.26 60-yard dash which gives him below average speed.  Where Mayfield gets interesting is his arm strength.  At the combine, he slung the football at 60 MPH, which in baseball terms isn’t impressive but then again he doesn’t throw baseballs for a living.

60 MPH in the NFL is considered above average.  Mayfield mixes a strong-arm with the ability to scramble and the footwork isn’t unlike that of an infielder.

Take this rollout for a touchdown (above), Mayfield could definitely play in the infield.  In fact, Mayfield hasn’t been shy about his affinity for baseball and was quite the high school player himself.

As a versatile infielder, he hit .338 with a .405 OBP in Texas which is a hotbed for baseball talent.  If there’s one knock on his game, he only hit one home run.  But still, Baker could be a solid utility infielder and give Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor or Jose Ramirez the occasional day off.

  • Hit: 55
  • Power: 30
  • Speed: 40
  • Field: 55
  • Arm: 65
  • Overall: 50
