April 4, 2016: Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals

Julio Teheran had another solid opener by going 6 innings and giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits against the NL East favorite Washington Nationals.  Unfortunately, two of those hits were solo shots, and Teheran left the game with the score tied at 2-2.

Ultimately, the Atlanta Braves lost 4-3 after the bullpen gave up a 1 run lead by allowing runs to score in the 8th and 9th inning.

The following season, Julio Teheran got off to a great start, throwing 6 strong innings of scoreless baseball, giving up 4 hits and 3 walks, and striking out 6.  The bullpen was the Atlanta Braves undoing, however, as they allowed 6 Mets to cross the plate for a final score of 6-0 and Teheran’s second straight opening day no decision.

Also of note was the fact that Teheran tied Greg Maddux and Rick Mahler with his 4th opening day start as a member of the Atlanta Braves.
