Stan Musial

Three-time MVP Stan Musial is easily one of the greatest players of all-time. An STL Cardinals mainstay for 22 seasons, Musial was an extraordinary hitter. He fell victim to playing in the same era as the greatest hitter of all time Ted Williams, however.

For his career, Musial led the league in several categories multiple times.

  • HITS six times (1943, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1949, and 1951)
  • 2B eight times (1943, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1949, 1952, 1953, and 1954)
  • 3B five times (1943, 1946, 1948, 1949, and 1951)
  • AVG seven times (1943, 1946, 1948, 1950-1952, and 1957)
  • OPS Seven times (1943, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1952, and 1957)

He made an unprecedented 20 consecutive All-Star games, missing 1945 only because he joined the military.

Musial was inducted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame with 93.2% of the vote in 1969. He died of natural causes in 2013 at the age of 92.
