Taking a look back on Tuesday’s slate of MLB games, there were a lot of fun moments and a lot of head-scratchers. These are the ones that stood out among the rest.

Baseball is such a unique sport because it moves at its own pace and is not lacking some out-of-the-ordinary moments. In just one day, there were four different MLB games that featured moments that had some fans jumping for joy, screaming at the TV set or unable to keep themselves from chuckling a bit.

More from Call to the Pen

First, in Boston (finally), the Red Sox played host to the Blue Jays.

It was Boston’s first home game of the season. They broke out the champion rings. Members of the Super Bowl champion Patriots were on the field for the pregame ceremonies. Chris Sale even had his start pushed back so he could be the home-opener.

There was a lot of excitement that was immediately deflated by the Blue Jays. The highlight – other than Sale getting booed off the field – was a true steal of home.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. caught the Sox napping and took advantage of the lefty Sale having his back to him. It was only made worse by Sale’s wild pitch.

The Red Sox would lose their home opener by a score of 7-5. Some homecoming, huh?

Billy Hamilton, faster than a speeding bullet?

Sticking with speed, everyone knows Billy Hamilton might be the fastest man in MLB, if not alive, and he backed that up Tuesday. Hosting the Seattle Mariners, Hamilton was leading off second when Adalberto Mondesi hit a pitch to deep center. Mallex Smith went back to make the catch.

Obviously, Hamilton was going to take advantage and advance to third, but Hamilton truly proved he might be the fastest man alive.

It wouldn’t help the Royals win, but it sent a message to outfielders to not sleep while Billy is on base or he will make you pay.

If Spiderman couldn’t finish the job

From one outfield mistake to another, St. Louis outfielder Marcell Ozuna, sorry, gold-glove-winning outfielder Marcell Ozuna made some nice acrobatics on the wall on a Kike Hernandez fly ball, but that was all that was nice.

It was like Spider-Man lost his way up the wall and… well watch:

Here’s what makes the situation funnier; he’s done this before! Last year even!

Obviously, the play would be just another footnote for Ozuna as the score would protect his blunder. The Cardinals shut out the Dodgers 4-0.

He is… the most interesting man in the world

Finally, everyone’s favorite Canadian Joey Votto took a pitch to his back from Marlins pitcher Wei-Yin Chen.

Given the recent brawl that the Reds were in with the Pirates last week, it is safe to assume Votto wasn’t looking to start anything. So he did what every good guy does.

Honestly, who is nicer than Joey Votto?

What did you think was the best MLB moment from Tuesday?
