The New York Yankees continued to add to their depth on Monday, as they signed Brad Miller to a minor league deal.

Whoever said that one cannot have enough depth had to be speaking about the New York Yankees. With Aaron Judge being hurt, the Yankees have 13 players on the Injured List, with essentially half of their AAA roster at the major league level. The depth needs more depth at this point.

On Monday, the Yankees added another depth piece, as they signed Brad Miller to a minor league deal.

While Miller is not going to ever be confused for a Gold Glove caliber player, he does have a great deal of versatility on the diamond. Over his career, Miller has played everywhere aside from pitcher and catcher, giving the Yankees a perfect utility option should he be needed.

Miller has bounced around a bit for the past two seasons. Once a mainstay in the Rays lineup, he has spent time in the Brewers, Dodgers, Indians, and now the Yankees organizations since July 10 last year. In his time in Cleveland this year, Miller had produced a solid .250/.325/.417 batting like with four extra base hits in 40 plate appearances. Nonetheless, he was designated for assignment.

That decision is the Yankees gain. Even if he is unlikely to ever be the player he was in 2016, when he belted a career best 30 homers and 29 doubles while compiling a .243/.304/.482 batting line, Miller is still a handy player to have in case of emergency.

It is certainly possible that Miller finds his way to the Yankees, even without any further injuries. Tyler Wade and Mike Ford have not exactly impressed with the bat thus far, opening the door for a player like Miller to get a chance.

The New York Yankees have added even more depth with Brad Miller. Given the way that injuries have decimated the Yankees roster, he could be back in the majors within a couple of weeks.
