While the 2019 New York Yankees have suffered an astonishing number of injuries, over the next few weeks the team looks to gradually reassemble.
The list of key New York Yankees players lost to injury this season is eerie. We’re talking five every-day players (Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Miguel Andujar, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks), a few of their replacements (Clint Frazier, Troy Tulowitzki), an ace starter (Luis Severino), and a key relief pitcher (Dellin Betances).
The entire team is in shambles and somehow they are still tied with the 2nd best run differential in MLB and sport a 17-13 record, good for 2nd place in the AL East.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however. Over the next couple of weeks, some key players are looking to return.

- Miguel Andujar, who suffered a right labrum tear on March 31, is playing in minor league games and looks to return as soon as next week
- Aaron Hicks, who has been out with a stiff back and hasn’t played a single game this season, is participating in extended Spring Training and apparently raking.
- Giancarlo Stanton, who has fully recovered from his biceps strain and then injured his shoulder, was looking to return while the team was on the west coast, but now is looking return for the next homestand.
- Clint Frazier, who has been out with an ankle sprain, is set to return next week.
While this is great news for the team who has been running out the likes of Gio Urshela, Mike Tauchman, and Mike Ford, there is still some uncertainty around the rest of the players on the IL.
Take Judge and Severino for example, their timetable for a return remains uncertain and Betances remains out until June at least.
Nevertheless, the New York Yankees are looking to continue winning games while continuing to reassemble in an effort to avoid missing the World Series for the first decade since the 1910s.
