In week-5 of the MLB players power rankings, there a new batch of players occupy the top 10.
The most surprising thing about this week’s top 10 list MLB players is that there are no recurring players on the list. This could be due to the fact that Christian Yelich missed six straight games last week.
Speaking of Yelich, in his first game back on Sunday, he drilled a 440-foot home run at home against the New York Mets. This most certainly silenced those who may have thought that he was rushed back. With this home run, Yelich leads MLB with 15 HR and trails Cody Bellinger (38 RBI) in RBI with 36 of his own.
There’s bad news for Yelich and Bellinger, however. In week-5 of the MLB player Power Rankings, neither player appears in the top 10.
This is the second week in a row that Yelich isn’t ranked in the top 10. As for Bellinger, In week-4, he was ranked 5th.
Now, for those of you who don’t know how this list was determined, here’s how:
- we base our weekly rankings on a Monday through Sunday schedule. Therefore, these rankings are for the week beginning on April 29 through May 5th.
- Then, using advanced stats (SLG, wOBA, wRC+) that best represent a players performance, we created a rubric.
- As a tiebreaker, we used fWAR to determine which player is ahead of who.
