As the season plugs along, teams are getting closer to being what we thought they would be. What does that mean for the MLB power rankings?

Well, here we are in the fifth week of the MLB power rankings. April is over; the first month of the season has passed on by. Teams may not be what we expected at the start of the season, but they are slowly inching closer to the mean.

Those seemingly inexplicable hot starts, where teams that were expected to fall by the wayside jumped out as a possible contender? Or those awful beginnings to the season, where teams that were expected to contend fall on their collective faces? Both of those are starting to correct themselves as the season continues on.

Eventually, teams will begin to perform to their talent level. While there will always be a team or two that outperforms expectations, or bombs based on what was expected before Opening Day, teams are slowly getting closer to what they should be.

How does that affect this week’s MLB power rankings? Let us take a look.
