MLB Free Agency: Will Dallas Keuchel Sign with a Team this Year?

Dallas Keuchel is currently sitting on the sidelines, leaving us wondering if he will ever sign a deal with any MLB team this year.

Dallas Keuchel was one of the premier MLB free agent starting pitchers this past offseason. Coming off a 12-11 record and a 3.74 ERA with the Astros last year, it was widely expected he would command a large sum and a long term contract.

Hence why the Houston Astros extended him a qualifying offer. Now that the season is underway and we are already in May, Keuchel still hasn’t found a place to play.

While he is still throwing and training at Rice University, he has not seen any actual professional games this season.

Now we ask the question, will we see Dallas Keuchel pitch again this season?

And the easy answer is yes we will. But for who and when?

While every team’s fanbase could give reason after reason to sign him, I believe it will come down to one of two types of teams:

  1. a playoff team looking for another arm in the rotation
  2. a rebuilding team looking for a long term option
