MLB Players Power Rankings:

Who was the best hitter during Week-7 of the baseball season? Find out in this latest edition of MLB Players Power Rankings.

In Week-7 of the season, some of the best MLB players are finally playing to the back of their baseball cards. Before we dive into this week’s power rankings, however, let’s understand how we make our determinations.

  1. We base our weekly rankings on a Monday through Sunday schedule. Therefore, these rankings are for the week beginning on May 13th through May 19th.
  2. Then, using advanced stats (SLG, wOBA, wRC+) that best represent a players performance, we created a rubric.
  3. As a tiebreaker, we used fWAR to determine which player is ahead of who.
  4. If the tiebreaker is a tie, then we delve deeper into the weekly stats.

With that being said, here are your 10-6 ranked MLB hitters according to… me.

10. Jorge Polanco, Minnesota Twins

The Twins own the 2nd best record and run differential in MLB, and Jorge Polanco is a huge reason why. This week, Polanco makes his second consecutive appearance on the MLB Players Power Rankings. Last week, Polanco placed 8th among all hitters.

Here are his Week-7 stats: 0.600 SLG | 0.455 wOBA | 188 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR

9. Tommy La Stella, Los Angeles Angels

After the Chicago Cubs essentially gave up on La Stella after last season, this year he’s making them regret it. Not only has he made the MLB Players Power Rankings, but he also leads the Angels with 11 HR.

Here are his Week-7 stats: 0.667 SLG | 0.470 wOBA | 210 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR

8. Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels

Even though he’s in his 9th big league season, and he’s already the highest paid player in American professional sports, Mike Trout continues to perform like the best MLB player in the world. This week, he finally makes the list even though he leads baseball in OPS.

Here are his Week-7 stats: .636 SLG | 0.497 wOBA | 222 wRC+ | 0.6 fWAR

7. Joey Gallo, Texas Rangers

For 5-seasons, Joey Gallo has been known as a strikeout machine with immense power. This season, he’s become much more than that. With an OBP of .411, Gallo is seeing the importance of getting on-base. Now, he’s turned in to one of the most dangerous hitters in MLB.

Here are his Week-7 stats: 0.750 SLG | 0.508 wOBA | 219 wRC+ | 0.6 fWAR

6. Logan Forsythe, Texas Rangers

This season, Logan Forsythe, a 9-year veteran of MLB is playing like a premier doubles hitter. With 11 2B in 33 games this season, Forsythe is 6 away from eclipsing her total in 120 games last season.

Here are his Week-7 stats: 0.789 SLG | 0.554 wOBA | 250 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR
