The New York Yankees have lost Miguel Andujar for the season, so will they trade for this All-Star third basemen?

The New York Yankees have been pretty much been playing with their Triple-A team in the first quarter of the 2019 season.

Miguel Andújar is now out for the year after he is having surgery to repair his right shoulder.

Gio Urshela has been phenomenal for the Yankees, and specifically at third base, but he will come back down to earth at some point.

As of now, Urshela has impressed the Yankees. He is hitting .343 with an OPS of .876 so he has replaced Miguel Andújar just fine.

The Opening Day shortstop went to the Yankees to tell them he is willing to play third with Gregorius on track to return.

Troy Tulowitzki has since taken some reps at third base in case they need him there once he comes back of the Injured List and Didi Gregorius is at shortstop, but Tulowitzki is just not a third baseman so I don’t see how that experiment is going to work.

The best third basemen available on the market is Anthony Rendon.

Other than Max Scherzer and maybe Juan Soto, Anthony Rendon is the lone duck still in Washington after Bryce Harper left the nation’s capital.

The Washington Nationals and Anthony Rendon have discussed an extension, as he is a free agent in the upcoming season, but Jon Heyman last reported that there was a “decent-sized gap” between Rendon’s asking price and the Nationals actual offer.

The Nationals are nine games under .500 so their chances of making the playoffs are slimming very fast with the surging Phillies and Braves in their division.

The last thing Nationals ownership wants is to lose Rendon to free agency for a compensation pick like they received (after the 4th round) for Bryce Harper.

Anthony Rendon to the Yankees seems like a great fit even if it is a half season rental to play third base in the Bronx.
