Los Angeles Dodgers: Tony Cingrani may be lost for the season
The Los Angeles Dodgers may be without Tony Cingrani for the entire 2019 campaign.
Sadly, it looks like it’s the end of the road for Los Angeles Dodgers left handed pitcher Tony Cingrani. He has yet to play in the major leagues this 2019 season. What started with shoulder soreness on the 10 day IL, turned serious fast and manager Dave Roberts quickly ordered another MRI. He was on the road to recovery but after having a setback in his rehab assignment in Oklahoma City, he is most likely done with the season and needs surgery via Pedro Moura.
Unfortunately if the 29 year old ever wants to play again, he has no choice but to turn to surgery just like many pitchers before him. Boston Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi just went under the same procedure in 2018. During an arthroscopic surgery, they insert a tiny camera to look at or repair the tissues in your shoulder joint.

Cingrani is not alone on the injured list. As of June 2nd, third baseman Justin Turner has an hamstring injury and is day to day. He is followed by the Catcher Austin Barnes (groin injury) as well as infielder Matt Beaty (left hip injury). Fellow Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler is also in rehab and threw alongside Cingrani before his latest MRI.
Without Tony, the Dodgers are fortunately in good shape pitching wise. Julio Urias is also a southpaw which is definitely needed. They also have star pitcher Clayton Kershaw who is doing great this season and has one of the best no-hitters under his belt.
The Dodgers received Cingrani from the Cincinnati Reds in 2017 right before the trade deadline. He had an overall 2.79 ERA with the Dodgers then and in 2018 finished with a 4.76 ERA. When he returns in 2020, he will be a free agent so he could also be done in Los Angeles altogether. Only time will tell for this talented player.
