New York Mets call full team meeting before game on Tuesday
The New York Mets are set to shake things up, and sent a message before their game on Tuesday.
The 2019 season has been a disappointment for the New York Mets. They completely revamped their roster and bullpen, taking aim at returning to the postseason. Instead of reaching those lofty goals, the Mets found themselves at 34-38 heading into Tuesday’s action, 8.5 games out of first. Something needs to change.
The Mets certainly think so as well. On Tuesday, the Mets had a full team meeting before their game, with hints of a major roster shakeup.
New York certainly needs something to snap them out of this malaise. After fighting their way back to being close to .500, they had lost four of their next five games, including a 12-3 pummelling on Monday at the hands of the Braves.

To hammer home the idea that the status quo was not good enough, the Mets made two moves in the bullpen, promoting Daniel Zamora and prospect Stephen Nogosek to the majors. While one of those moves was borne of necessity due to Jeurys Familia landing on the Injured List, such a shakeup was needed.
It remains to be seen as to whether or not this will make a difference on the Mets performance for the rest of the year. After all, they went on a bit of a hot streak before when Mickey Callaway‘s job was called into question. That did not last, leading to the latest attempt to wake the Mets up. This time, the Mets shut down Atlanta on Tuesday, but will that last?
Should the Mets shake off their malaise, they do have a chance to contend. They are just 5.5 games out of the Wild Card, although they would have to pass five teams to reach the postseason. Otherwise, New York does have some intriguing options for the trade deadline, and could end up hastening a rebuild.
The New York Mets are trying to shake up their roster and break out of their malaise. Maybe this team meeting will make a difference. Of course, the last attempt was only a short term solution.
