The Detroit Tigers entered a rebuild about two years ago and with a 26-43 record in 2019, their status as a seller has been cemented. Here are three players that will likely be sold off by the Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers own a -131 run differential- enough for second worst in the league, just trailing the Orioles at -161. It is a combination of a severe lack of offense and sub-par pitching. Matthew Boyd, Spencer Turnbull, and Daniel Norris have proven to be a solid three at the top of the rotation, yet the loss of Michael Fulmer has proven to be fatal.

Tyson Ross, Ryan Carpenter, and Jordan Zimmerman have occupied the remaining slots in the rotation. Each of them has an ERA ranging well above the five mark and they are all currently occupying spots on the injured list.

The reinforcements have not proven to be any more useful, as the bullpen has widely struggled outside of the closer Shane Greene. Therefore, they see no evidence of a winning team and thus they can easily sell off pieces that will likely net a decent return. The most productive offensive piece would likely be Nicholas Castellanos, who is currently in the midst of a struggling season.

The Tigers currently have five players- all pitchers- in the MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects. They are Casey Mize (#18), Matt Manning (#53), Franklin Perez (#67), Alex Faedo (#79), and Beau Burrows (#86). This is a good base to build from and a few well-executed trades could truly set them in the right direction.

All in all, the Detroit Tigers will likely be one of the most active teams in trading pieces away. These three are the most likely to move and the most tempting options, as well.
