The Chicago White Sox have promoted top prospect right-hander Dylan Cease. He pitched the day portion of the doubleheader on Wednesday, July 3.

Dylan Cease is currently ranked as the third-best prospect in the Chicago White Sox system and among the top fifty in the entire league – 18th to be exact. His lack of command is probably the element that has held him back the longest, as his excellent curveball and fastball clearly shine on any of his scouting reports.

Along with Michael Kopech and the sudden success found by Lucas Giolito, Chicago’s South Siders have a pitching rotation primed for years of success. The excellent outfielders Chicago has- Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert– also provide much promise for the lineup’s future viability.

Along with a breakout season for Yoan Moncada, this influx of young talent sets Chicago up nicely for a run of future success. Cease’s arrival upon the scene signals the commencement of that very future.

His debut saw him struggle through a nervous first inning, issuing three walks, hitting a batter, and surrendering two runs. He was able to find his composure and settle down after that. His final line read four hits, three earned runs, four walks, six strikeouts, and a victory.

It was a very compelling start for Cease and is enough evidence to keep him in the major leagues for the imminent future. His scouting report rings very true, as his lack of command truly played a factor in his first start.

In AAA Charlotte, the 23-year-old right-hander was 5-2 with a 4.48 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 15 starts. His proficiency for strikeouts will play at the major league level and at the age of 23, he is in the perfect position to succeed on the hill at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Chicago White Sox rebuild is finally beginning to bear hints of potential. A lot has been invested into Cease, Kopech, Moncada, Jimenez, and Giolito. They are all resembling pieces that a winning team could be built around and with the majority of them in the major leagues, the on-field winning should begin to show.
