2019 MLB Season: The Milwaukee Brewers (46-42)

The Glaring Need:

The Milwaukee Brewers are in desperate need of starting pitching.  Let’s face it, a 4.86 starters ERA simply ain’t gonna cut it if you’re trying to win a title.

Brewers starters are averaging about 5 innings per game, and last time I checked, that’s not super great.  One of the core strengths of this team is its bullpen, but unfortunately, if your starters can’t get deep into games, then that great bullpen is going to be taxed as the dog days approach.  The trade market could be their best asset, depending on what they’d be willing to give up to get a premium starter.

The Winning Case:

Like the Chicago Cubs, the “Brew Crew” has a formidable lineup, headed by one of the best players in the National League, if not (almost) all of baseball.  In addition to a potent lineup, the bullpen has a lot of shut down relievers that can hold down even the best lineups to give their team a chance to win.  They may have the strongest case of any team in this division, thanks to the ability to score and keep the other team from scoring late in games.
